Personal Storage Ottawa Helps Free Up Space in Your Home Or Business

When it comes to freeing up space in your home, you need a company that offers personal storage ottawa services. Getting affordable personal storage is important when your home is either too small or far too cluttered to be comfortable. Personal storage Ottawa units allow you to store all of those items in a safe and secure environment. You don't have to worry about anybody accessing these items, since you will be able to lock the storage unit so that nobody can get to it. There a lot of benefits to owning a personal storage unit, below you will find some of the items that are useful to be stored in these containers.

Yard equipment

We don't often mow or clean up our yards, so storing yard equipment in a personal storage unit is a great opportunity. If you have a lot of machinery like weed whackers, lawnmowers, tremors and more, storing this in your personal storage unit gets it out of your home and away from your sight. The best part about it is that storage units aren't really that expensive. In general, a typical storage unit will be well under $100 per month. This allows you to save money and get all of your garden equipment stored safely and securely in a unit that you can access when you need it. Anytime that you go to clean your yard, you can simply drive down to your unit and pick up your items.

A spare car
Believe it or not, storage unit facilities will actually let you store a spare car inside one of their containers. Lots of people have spare cars around their home, but this can really take away from the overall appeal of your home. If you have a spare car that just sits in your front yard or driveway, you can store that car in a storage unit so that you no longer have to see it anymore. Surely, you and your neighbors are going to appreciate this opportunity.

Antiques
Antiques can be something that we want to hold onto for as long as possible. Storing these antiques somewhere that they're going to be safe is important so that you can one day sell them and get a return on investment. If you have lots of antique furniture or items in your home, rather than keeping them in the garage or sitting somewhere that they really don't belong, you can store them in a storage unit. It doesn't matter what type of antiques you own, storage units will accept whatever it is you want to bring into the facility.

Business supplies
Often times, businesses will have far too many supplies in order to keep all of them at their place of business. Additionally, if you operate out of your home, it can be difficult to keep track of business supplies and organize them efficiently. If you'd like a place to store some of the things that you purchase for your business, a storage unit is a great opportunity to do so.

Fx currency trading ? Euro flops in spite of Spain's audit - Forex trading

The study was commissioned to estimate how bad the damage years of reckless lending to building developers during the country?s boom years deepened Spain?s debt?

leaving the country awash with an unbearable debt, public protests and the prospect of a financial bailout that would certainly augment the country?s social problems.?

The report, carried out by consultancy Oliver Wyman, lists seven banks that will certainly need bailout money or must raise further capital themselves by the middle of next year.?

?The results of the Spanish financial solvency are an important step towards re-establishing trust in the Spanish financial system and should allow for the first round of recapitalization for November?, the European Commission informed on Friday.?

Despite the positive audit report, in early afternoon fx currency trading the euro fell against the dollar for a second straight week on Friday, going down 0.4 percent at $1.2859, not far from Thursday?s two-week low of $1.2828.?

?There is still a lot of questions regarding Spain, mainly related to whether or not it would seek a bailout?, said Brian Kim, currency strategist at RBS Securities in Stamford, Connecticut.?

On Thursday, Madrid announced its 2013 budget, mainly based on spending cuts, something analysts see as a pre-condition for the much expected bail-out.?

Neighbors France are also stirring fx currency trading with their own 2013 budget asking for an ?unprecedented effort? to find ?36.9bn in savings and taxing the superrich an astounding 75 percent.?

However, the Socialist government sidestepped cuts in public spending, including pensions and state salaries.?

As expected, the ?supertax? has attracted a lot of criticism, especially of course, from the ?superrich?. The climate of tension will surely have an effect in fx currency trading markets, as business leaders are claiming that the new measures will prevent France from attracting the cream of executives and drive the wealthy into tax exile.?

Something the opposition is trying to get some political credit out of, with Marine Le Pen, president of the far-right Front National describing the budget as ?an absurd hyper-austerity that will take France through the same way as Greece, Spain, Portugal and Ireland? , and Former agriculture minister Bruno Le Maire saying ?France is going to the wall?.?

Stateside, the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer perception index went down to 78.3 against the previous 79.2.

Most of the northern and western US will be able to enjoy a cloud free evening to catch a glimpse of the Harvest Moon just after the sun has set.? The Harvest Moon is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. Due to its low angle in the sky this time of the year, the moon appears large and has an orange glow. This cycle of the moon got its name from Farmer?s who used the light from the moon to do their harvesting.

abc two legged pups dm 120927 wblog Two Legged Puppies Almost Unaffected by Disability

    CBS DFW

Moose and Maverick are typical rambunctious puppies. They like to play, bark and lick as much as the next dog. They?re thriving even though they both have only two legs.

The puppies were abandoned in March, just hours after they were born. The local rescue coordinator called Dr. Erin Shults, a veterinarian in Frisco, Texas who heads a non-profit animal welfare organization called Mazie?s Mission.

?I got the call that someone had dumped a mother and three babies. Two of them only had two legs,? Shults said. ?I wasn?t really sure then that the two-legged dogs would survive or have a good quality of life, but I was willing to give it a shot.?

Shults took the pair of two-legged pups in as her personal pets and began training them to work as therapy dogs, going to shelters and assisted living centers to visit patients.

?They?ve done a lot of therapy and they?ve been just great with that,? Shults said. ?They are such fantastic therapy dogs.?

So well that most people they visit don?t even realize Moose and Maverick only have two legs.

?When I take them to assisted living centers, people don?t even notice right away since they act so normal,? Shults said. ?People don?t even realize. I mean, they?re both completely mobile and you can?t even tell when they?re sitting in someone?s lap.?

Moose and Maverick even walk like other dogs, as if they had all four legs.

?I always say it?s like they?re walking like a kangaroo or a T. rex,? Shults said. ?They barely get off the ground.?

Shults had wondered how they would do.

?I was thinking I?d have to teach them to walk on their back legs, like humans. I thought they?d just slide on their stomachs if not. But I was wrong?way wrong, ? Shults said. ?They are very content moving that way so I?m not going to press them. I?m letting them walk how they want to.?

Shults says Moose and Maverick, like other dogs, have their own distinct personalities.

?Moose is very laid back. He?s very calm and just wants to hang out and sit on your lap,? she said. ?While Maverick is very active. He?s?mischievous?and likes to get in trouble. They?re polar opposites.?

Shults is hoping that the pair can use their disability to inspire others.

?I?m trying to get them to be therapy dogs for amputees,? she said. ?They?d be able to teach people. They have no idea they?re different from other dogs. Nothing gets them down.?

Egyptian liberals threaten to quit constitution-drafting body

CAIRO (Reuters) - A group of high profile liberal and leftwing politicians in Egypt has said it will quit the assembly charged with drafting the country's new constitution within a week unless its concerns over Islamist-influenced content in the document are addressed.

The constitution - which is being drawn up by a 100-member assembly - is meant to be the centerpiece of a new democratic Egypt after veteran autocrat Hosni Mubarak was ousted last year and its successful drafting is being seen as a litmus test for its new Islamist rulers including President Mohamed Mursi.

Egypt can't hold an election to replace a parliament that a court declared void in June without the constitution, and until it does Mursi will continue to hold lawmaking power, an uneasy arrangement that erodes the credibility of his government.

But during a closed door meeting held late on Tuesday but that was only made public on Thursday three former presidential candidates and several leaders of the country's main non-Islamist parties said they were ready to quit the assembly or encourage their supporters to do so.

If they make good on their threat, a new parliamentary election could be delayed.

Arguing that Islamist influence meant the constitution risked ending up as a document that curbed freedom, they said they would resign in one week and take to the streets unless their concerns were addressed.

"This is a constitution that brings Egypt backwards not forward," said Ahmed al-Boraie, a former labor minister who hosted the meeting.

"We are consulting with political powers that have the same demands, if the assembly doesn't respond they will have to quit," he said.

In particular, liberals oppose a proposal that would give the seat of Sunni learning, Al-Azhar, authority similar to that of a supreme court by making it the arbiter of whether a law conforms with the principles of sharia law.

They are also unhappy with clauses that would allow journalists embroiled in publishing lawsuits to be jailed and other proposed measures which they say will curb freedom of belief and expression.

    "TOO MANY ISLAMISTS"

Mursi, propelled to power by the Muslim Brotherhood, has praised the assembly, and has said he doesn't understand those who quit.

Some liberals committed to a more secular state have already boycotted the assembly and are challenging it in court, saying it includes too many Islamists. They say the Islamists want to turn Egypt into an Iran-style theocracy, a claim Islamists deny.

A court will consider a legal challenge against the assembly, which is made up of thinkers, scholars, professionals and political and religious leaders, on October 2.

Islamist politicians make up almost half the assembly while the other half includes many Islamist-sympathizers. A court dissolved a previous assembly for being dominated by Islamists and for failing to fairly represent Egypt's diverse society.

The clauses the liberals want dropped are being championed by ultraconservative Salafis. Other Islamists, such as members of the Brotherhood and its Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), are pressing for a consensus to be reached in order to keep the assembly working.

"We are very committed that everyone work together," said Farid Ismail, an FJP assembly member. "This isn't the FJP or Salafis assembly, it concerns all Egyptians."

Manal al-Teiby, a liberal member of the assembly, quit earlier this week objecting to the way it was operating. The assembly's speaker, Hossam al-Gheriany, who is also head of Egypt's Supreme Judicial Council and is seen as an independent, criticized her resignation, saying her accusations were false.

"There is a very severe attack" on the assembly, he said.

Analysts expect the new document to have a more Islamic flavor than its predecessor, including clauses prohibiting criticism of God and establishing an institution to collect zakat, or charitable donations for the poor. An existing clause banning parties based on religion is also likely to be dropped.

Amr Hamzawy, a prominent liberal politician and ex-MP, demanded that liberals lobby international parliamentarians.

"These circles, especially the European Parliament and the American Congress, can pressure their governments to convey a message to Mursi and Islamist parties that financial and economic aid are linked to building a democracy," he wrote on Wednesday in the al-Watan privately-owned newspaper.

Shock Claim: Canadian Police Ignored Potential Evidence Of ...

The RCMP long suspected corruption in the construction industry involving the Montreal Mafia and dirty politicians but ignored possible leads in order to target the Rizzuto clan's drug trafficking business during its five-year investigation dubbed Project Colis?e according to Corporal Vinicio Sebastiano who testified yesterday before the Charbonneau Commission as reported by Monique Muse for The Gazette.?

Sebastiano testified that the potential evidence included video surveillance of some construction-linked people seemingly dropping off cash payments at social clubs from which the Rizzuto clan conducted its business, and recorded conversations discussing construction companies and political parties.? However, "it was usually dismissed as 'non-pertinent' evidence" said Sebastiano:? "when construction or political parties came up, the tapes kept rolling but 'we weren't listening.'"? Those tapes will be played for the Charbonneau Commission in the coming days.

Although Sebastiano identified several big players in the construction trade he claims visited the social clubs he "did not point the finger at any specific company executives who handed over the cash" as reported by CBC.

Gadhafi captor tortured and killed by ex-leader's supporters

One of the men who pulled former Libyan leader Colonel Moammar Gadhafi from a drainpipe last year has been buried after he was kidnapped by Gadhafi supporters and tortured, later dying of his injuries.

Omran Ben Shaaban's body was flown back to Libya by private jet on Tuesday from France, where he'd been receiving medical attention.

Video posted online showed thousands of mourners at a Misrata sports stadium Tuesday night. The Libyan government said it would give the 22-year-old a funeral fit for a hero. A photo was also posted of Shaaban in wooden casket, his face visible through a glass window.

Shaaban and three friends were attacked and kidnapped by Gadhafi loyalists in July near the southern town of Bani Walid, where many Gadhafi supporters still live. Relatives told the Associated Press Shaaban was shot twice and paralyzed from the waist down. When Libya's president Mohammed el-Megarif managed to get Shaaban and two of his friends released this month, Shaaban was "skin and bones."

"It was clear he was beaten a lot," his brother Abdullah Shaaban told the AP. "His entire chest was sliced with razors. His face had changed. It wasn't my brother that I knew."

Shaaban was then flown to France for treatment, but he died on Tuesday.

The fall of Gadhafi has resulted in the rise of independent militias and widespread lawlessness, highlighted by the deaths two weeks ago American Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans during an attack on the consulate in Benghazi.

The AP reports that Shaaban belonged to a coalition of militias called Libya Shield, sanctioned and supported by the Defense Ministry.

He reportedly never received the $800,000 reward for capturing Gadhafi last October, but his brother said Shaaban considered it his duty.

Gadhafi was found hiding in a drainage pipe near his birthplace Sirte. He was dragged out and violently carried away during which time he was killed. Video posted by the aggregator Storyful appears to show Shaaban carrying a pistol while a bloodied Gadhafi pleads for his life.

Libya's congress has vowed to track down Shaaban's kidnappers. A militia commander said they would take matters into their own hands if the authorities fail.

"We will take revenge militarily but legitimately," Walid Ben Shaaban told Agence France-Presse. "We will give the authorities an opportunity to tackle the issue but if they fail to act, we know how to make our move."

Avalanche deaths might be victims of Tibet crisis

KATMANDU, Nepal (AP) ? The climbers killed in a weekend avalanche in the Himalayas were part of a crush of mountaineers who came to the peak in Nepal because of heightened tensions between Chinese authorities and Tibetans.

China rejected climbing permits for mountaineers hoping to scale peaks in the Tibetan Himalayas, forcing many to crowd onto mountains in Nepal, according to alpine companies.

As a result, about 30 teams were registered to climb Mount Manaslu, a 50 percent increase over last year, said Ang Tshering, who runs the popular Asian Trekking agency in Nepal.

About two dozen climbers were sleeping at a camp high on the mountain early Sunday when the avalanche swept over them. Rescuers have so far brought down the bodies of eight victims ? four French, one each from Germany, Italy and Spain, and a Nepali guide.

Tibet is a sensitive area for China, which sometimes limits access for foreign tourists. It has also in the past restricted the number of permits issued to climbers, and even stopped issuing them in 2008 while Chinese climbers took the Olympic torch to the top of Mount Everest before the Beijing Games.

Relations between Tibet and the Chinese government have been volatile this year, as many Tibetans set themselves on fire to bring attention to what they say is their suffering under China's repressive policies. China claims Tibet has always been Chinese territory, but most Tibetans say the Himalayan region was independent for much of its history.

Chinese officials did not accept applications for climbing permits this year, without giving any reason, said Tshering of Asian Trekking, who is also the representative for the China Tibet Mountaineering Association.

As a result, climbers who were planning to climb Cho Oyu or Shisapangma in the Tibetan region changed their destination to Manaslu, a popular choice because it was not as difficult a climb as other high mountains, Tshering said. It also has a relatively cheap $5,000 permit, compared to $35,000 for Everest during the autumn season.

Other mountains also saw an increase in traffic, Tshering said,

Bikram Newpane of the Katmandu-based Himalayan Rescue Association, which helps mountaineers in distress, said China's ban on permits for climbing the northern face of the Himalayas in Tibet could have added to the dangers.

"It is never 100 percent safe up on the mountains and the risks are always there. But there were more people on the mountains this year," Newpane said.

Overcrowding has been a concern because of limited space on trails and short windows of safety for summiting mountains.

Four people were killed on Mount Everest during the May climbing season when a traffic jam pushed dozens of climbers on the same narrow path to the summit, forcing many to stay too long at high altitudes and exhaust their oxygen supplies.

It is not clear if the extra people on Manaslu contributed to the tragedy. What does appear clear is that many would not have been on that mountain had their Tibetan climbing permits been accepted.

However, a crush of climbers could have benefits too, providing extra hands for rescue operations. Newpane praised the swift rescue on Manaslu, carried out by the trekking agencies that organized the expeditions.

Climbers also blame climate change for some of the recent tragedies on the Himalayan peaks, which have been hit by warmer weather that melts more snow and makes the surface unstable.

"The uncertainty of the weather condition has increased in the past few years on the mountains. The melting glaciers on the mountains make the grounds unstable," said Zimba Zangbu of the Nepal Mountaineering Association.

Zangbu said it continued to rain for two weeks in Nepal during the monsoon season that just ended.

"When it rains in the rest of the country, it snows on the mountains. Manaslu was also blanketed with soft snow," he said, adding that this type of snowfall does not get packed on the mountain surface and can lead to avalanches.

The spring season is more popular for climbers because the weather conditions are better on higher peaks before the monsoon brings rain and snow. High winds in the area known as the death zone over 8,000 meters (26,400 feet) also make climbing difficult during autumn.

Why 'super-Earths' may be unlikely to support life

So-called "super-Earth" alien worlds may bear little resemblance to our own home planet and thus could be less likely to support life than previously believed, a new study suggests.

Super-Earths ? alien planets bigger than Earth, but containing less than 10 times its mass ? may be undifferentiated hunks of rock, possessing neither a mantle nor a core, researchers found. Super-Earths may also lack magnetic fields, which help protect life on our planet by shielding it from harmful radiation.

The scientists modeled the thermal evolution of rocky super-Earths, whose internal pressures are many times greater than those found in Earth's interior. Such high pressures lead to large viscosities and high melting temperatures, the team discovered ? and these characteristics can have negative influences on a planet's habitability.

      1. Beyond-the-moon base stirs up buzz

Science editor Alan Boyle's blog: A concept that calls for building a deep-space outpost beyond the moon's orbit has stirred up some positive buzz from space pioneers ? including Apollo 11 moonwalker Buzz Aldrin.

For example, the team's calculations suggest that super-Earths may not be separated into a rocky mantle and metallic core like our planet is. [ The Strangest Alien Planets ]

?Current understanding is that the terrestrial planets in our solar system formed rapidly ? in about the first 50 million years," Vlada Stamenkovic, of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said in a statement.

"The timescale of core formation depends strongly on viscosity," Stamenkovic added. "The high melting temperatures and the large viscosities that we?ve calculated for super-Earths suggest either a slow core formation or no core formation at all."

Earth's magnetic field is driven by the action of our planet's liquid metallic core. So if super-Earths lack such a core, they may lack magnetic fields as well, Stamenkovic said.

Even if rocky super-Earths are differentiated, convection would likely be sluggish, or stagnant layers could form deep in the mantle, researchers said. Either of these factors would reduce heat flow from the core and quash dynamo action that could generate a magnetic field.

The new study also found that the propensity for plate tectonics ? which are a boon for life on Earth, helping to bring vital nutrients up from the planet's interior ? decrease as a planet's mass increases. But water in a planet's crust can buffer this effect, so researchers can't say with confidence how likely super-Earths are to host plate tectonics.

Volcanic activity has also been vital to life on our planet, helping to establish Earth's atmosphere. The new research finds that the duration of volcanic outgassing generally decreases with increasing planetary mass, which could be more bad news for the prospect of life on super-Earths.

The new study also highlights how much is unknown about super-Earths, and the necessity of gathering more information about these mysterious worlds, researchers said.

"We will only be able to fully answer questions by gathering more data from high-pressure experiments and from spectroscopic observations of super-Earth atmospheres orbiting close-by bright stars," Stamenkovic said. "Theory shows the possibilities, which are far larger than previously thought, but remains full of uncertainties."

Stamenkovic will present the results at the European Planetary Science Congress in Madrid on Wednesday.

The impact of vertical-axis rotations on shortening estimates

Aviva J. Sussman et al., Earth and Environmental Sciences, MS-D443, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, New Mexico 87545, USA. First published on 7 Aug. 2012, doi: 10.1130/L177.1

Aviva Sussman and colleagues define the components of the total displacement field, describe the diagnostic and suggestive features associated with vertical-axis rotations, and apply trigonometric map-view calculations to estimate the amount of shortening contributed by such rotations. They then apply their approach to the Wyoming salient and show that previous estimates of shortening there may contain up to 14% error.

Superimposed extension and shortening in the southern Salinas Basin and La Panza Range, California: A guide to Neogene deformation in the Salinian block of the central California Coast Ranges
    Joseph P. Colgan, 345 Middlefield Road, MS 973, U.S. Geological Survey, Menlo Park, California 94025, USA. Lithosphere, October 2012, v. 4, p. 411-429, first published on August 7, 2012, doi: 10.1130/L208.1

Joseph P. Colgan and colleagues synthesized data from geologic maps, wells, seismic-reflection profiles, potential-field interpretations, and low-temperature thermochronology to refine current understanding of late Cenozoic extension and shortening in the Salinian block of the central California Coast Ranges. The central California Coast Ranges are dominated by faults of the San Andreas system, and were formed by ongoing crustal shortening in an approx. 100-km-wide zone stretching from the San Joaquin Valley to the coast across the San Andreas fault.

Scale dependence of oblique plate-boundary partitioning: New insights from LiDAR, central Alpine fault, New Zealand
Nicolas C. Barth et al., Southern Illinois University, Geology, 1249 Lincoln Dr., MC 4324, Carbondale, IL 62958, USA. Lithosphere, October 2012, v. 4, p. 435-448, doi: 10.1130/L201.1

In the past 10 years, airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology has become an effective tool for identifying active faults and assessing seismic hazards in a wide range of environments, including urban areas, grassland and scrub, and densely vegetated forests. In particular, the ability of LiDAR to image the land surface beneath thick vegetative covers at a resolution of centimeters to meters has allowed the topographic features of these landscapes to be examined in revolutionary new ways. The prospect of a 30% chance of a surface-rupturing, approx. magnitude 8 Alpine fault earthquake in the next 50 years poses a significant hazard in New Zealand, and, according to researchers Nicolas Barth and colleagues, a better understanding of surface rupturing along the Alpine fault is sorely needed. By incorporating interpretations of newly acquired LiDAR data with aerial photo interpretation and decades of previous geologic mapping, Barth and colleagues explore the significance of several orders of magnitude of shallow transpressional partitioning observed on the oblique-slip central Alpine fault and propose a new model for the geometry of structures observed at multiple scales.

    Non-Pratt component of oceanic isostasy
James A. Conder, Southern Illinois University, Geology, 1249 Lincoln Dr., MC 4324, Carbondale, IL 62958, USA. First published 5 Sept. 2012, doi: 10.1130/L229.1

For the past 40 years, oceanic lithosphere has been understood to cool and subside away from mid ocean ridges to a Pratt-like isostasy condition. However, James Conder shows that in the presence of an overlying fluid, a dynamic response within the Earth's mantle is also necessary to reach equilibrium. Similar to an icecap on a continent, the addition of seawater on top of subsiding lithosphere drives a small degree of flow in the asthenosphere to accommodate the excess mass accumulated on top. The mantle flow is systematically driven from beneath younger seafloor towards older seafloor. This new understanding of seafloor subsidence means that while about two-thirds of oceanic isostasy is accommodated by Pratt isostasy, the remaining one-third must be accommodated by mantle flow.

Pulsed deformation and variable slip rates within the central Himalayan thrust belt
Delores M. Robinson, Dept. of Geological Sciences, University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35487 USA; and Nadine McQuarrie. First published on 5 Sept. 2012; doi: 10.1130/L204.1

The Himalaya are the highest and most imposing mountains on the surface of the planet. Glaciers and snow cover the high Himalaya, while forests and steep ravines define the regions immediately to the south. Understanding how these mountains evolved over time gives us a fundamental connection to how they are currently growing and changing. Delores Robinson and Nadine McQuarrie use data from years of field work in remote far western Nepal in combination with computer modeling to determine the evolution of the Himalayan Mountains from 25 million years ago to the present. Because erosion constantly removes rock from the growing mountain range, documenting the rocks, structure and topography millions of years ago is daunting. However, some of these eroded rocks become stored in sedimentary basins and provide data for understanding when faults moved, rocks cooled and sediment was deposited. Robinson and McQuarrie use these data to construct models that provide an estimate for rates of erosion and deformation for seven different time frames. They concluded that averaged over millions of years, the rate of erosion was essentially constant. However, the rate of deformation varied through time. Highest rates of deformation occurred on large faults that accommodated 100-plus km of motion between the colliding Indian and Asian continents at about 16 to 25 and about 10 to 13 million years ago. Even though many researchers assume an average rate of deformation, Robinson and McQuarrie found that there are periods of time when deformation was fast and periods of time when deformation was slow.

Recognition of Late Cretaceous Hasanbag ophiolite-arc rocks in the Kurdistan Region of the Iraqi Zagros suture zone: A missing link in the paleogeography of the closing Neotethys Ocean
S.A. Ali et al., School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Wollongong, Wollongong, NSW 2522, Australia. First published on 4 June 2012, doi: 10.1130/L207.1

This paper by S.A. Ali of the University of Wollongong and colleagues is (a) innovative because it provides first evidence of a "missing" Cretaceous arc assemblage in the Iraqi segment of the Zagros orogenic belt; (b) provocative because it challenges current ideas concerning Zagros evolution and anatomy; and (c) timely because there is much current literature on the neighboring Iranian segment of the Zagros orogen, whereas new information from Iraq is lacking.

Making The Most Of Your Advertising Efforts Through Social Media ...

Social media has actually existed for quite some time, even though it may not seem like it. However, the level of power social media has now is unprecedented, and people are still learning more about what you can do with it every day. While there are things to think about in the online space, some of the basics of selling your brand through social networks remain the same. Read on and learn how to navigate this space.

Make sure to regularly post comments and answers to questions on your sites. Make sure you log in two times a day and read your messages and notifications. You can also set up your program to notify you via email when a message is posted. Keep in mind that your response will be visible to everyone, so avoid making silly gaffes.

If your goal is to create a large social network by opening different profiles, your first step should include inviting every person you know. Even if they don?t subscribe or follow your page, they?re at least being made aware of your company?s presence.

TIP! When you are trying different ways to use social marketing, make sure you know what is posted by your company. Sometimes things spread like wildfire in social media and mistakes you made can get around fast.

To get more attention on Twitter, use hash tags related to your industry. If you?re discussing weight loss tips, you may want to use tags such as #diet or #weightloss. This will get your posts to show up in lists and searches and will let people who aren?t following you see what you have to say.

Keep an eye on your competitors. Find them on the social media sites and see what they are up to. You may choose to do some similar things for the same market or you could come up with a strategy that no one else has to reach a new audience.

You can gain a lot of knowledge from interacting with people in social media communities. Don?t just look at the members of the community to just make money, but a good place to get information, too. Learn all you can about their preferences, opinions and lifestyles in order to know them better.

TIP! Holding contests with sought-after prizes on social media sites, like Facebook and Twitter, can generate positive publicity. Due to the way online social networks operate, information about your contest will rapidly spread.

Make your titles and your headlines seductive. So often, the only thing people can see initially on social networking sites is the title of your content. Make your headlines so eye-catching and intriguing that if someone sees it, they have no choice but to click in to read the content. Taking the time to think of a creative headline will help your content rise to the top of the social media heap.

You should find different ways to interact with customers on a personal, as well as professional, level. Find out if they have any blogs or popular threads online and post whenever you can generate appropriate and engaging comments. Don?t interrupt a conversation with irrelevant comments or links to your products. Only post relevant comments, and don?t mention your business unless the conversation naturally leads into it.

Don?t post cliche? quotes or lyrics because this demonstrates a lack of social skills towards your customers. They?re going to view it as annoying fluff and wasted characters. Try to use only original quotes if you choose to use them at all.

TIP! Try to combine email marketing with your social media adventure. Make sure that your emails contain buttons or links to your Facebook or Twitter accounts, with a note that you personally answer customer questions there.

Testing strategies and campaigns before you go live with your social media profile site can help you tweak your plan for maximum success. It never hurts to continue running tests periodically after the launch; this allows you to continue to experiment until you find your best option. This will prevent you from publishing content that ruins your social image and brings your business down with it.

    Social Media

When it comes to social media marketing, you need to integrate keyword ads that are relevant to your business. Providing users with access to your other sites can increase your opportunity to market to interested customers on your other sites especially those who might be frustrated by the absence of such links. Also, you need to ensure that these pages are up-to-date and current, at all times. Add in any relevant links and just make sure that you are making real efforts to market on social media.

TIP! Your social media campaign will not succeed without adequate knowledge of your target market. To know your target audience is to know your business.

Share new content as often as you can. Do not forget to create quality articles that give you a sense of credibility. Posting under your very own name on pages like HubPages and Associated Content is also a good idea. Make sure that you have high-quality information written, as this will become the representation of your site.

Use YouTube to help you get further in your other ventures. YouTube is used and enjoyed by many people. Increase your Internet presence with a well thought out You Tube profile. Provide quality information about your goods and services on your profile, and link back to your website so your viewers can access it easily.

    Social Media

TIP! Consider the benefits of giveaway promotions through social media. The appeal of a free gift is universal; offering them is a great way to build your audience on social networking sites.

Do what makes you feel comfortable when it comes to social media. Creating unique and accurate content will help you gain more followers. After reading this article, you now have a better idea of how to market your business. A good way to reach out to those in different countries is using Social Media

Copy of the Muslim Letter that Prompted the Pentagon to Purge Military Instruction ?Offensive to Islam?

ANN ARBOR, MI ? A letter dated October 19, 2011 signed by 57 Muslim organizations, was sent to the White House with copies to other federal officials responsible for national security, including Secretary of the Department of Defense, Leon Panetta.? The letter demanded that all training materials that they judge to be offensive to Islam be ?purged? and instructors ?are effectively disciplined.? ??

Because many reporters and citizens have asked for a copy of the letter, TMLC is linking to the 7-page letter?here, and attaching it to this press release as well.? You may also view it by going to the TMLC website at:?www.thomasmore.org.? Note the highlighted areas on page 5 of the letter.

This letter was referred to in a previous Thomas More Law Center (TMLC) press release.?Click here.?

Following that letter, in April 2012, Army Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Matthew Dooley, a highly decorated combat veteran, was publically condemned by General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and relieved of his teaching assignment at the Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC).? The reason: the negative way Islam was portrayed in his elective course entitled,?Perspectiveson Islam and Islamic Radicalism.

On May 10,2012,duringaPentagonpress conference with Defense Secretary Panetta seated next to him, General Martin Dempsey expressed negative opinions regarding the?Perspectiveson Islam and Islamic Radicalism?course, characterizing it as "totally objectionable" and "against our values." ?General Dempsey personally committed to removing any similar curriculum from military professional education within the JFSC and elsewhere.?

The Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, now represents LTC Dooley, a 1994 Graduate of the U. S. Military Academy at West Point.?

Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, observed, ?In order to appease Muslims and the White House, General Dempsey and the Department of Defense rushed to punish LTC Dooley.? In the process, they violated not only our Nation?s core principles of free speech and academic freedom guaranteed by our Constitution, but also, a number of the military?s own regulations dealing with academic freedom and non-attribution policies of the National Defense University (NDU)? to which LTC Dooley was assigned.? They violated the right to due process of law and even by-passed the University?s Provost, who under NDU?s own rules has primary responsibility for adjudication of this matter.?

Claire M. Lopez, a former CIA agent and strategic policy and intelligence expert, recently commented on General Dempsey?s order:

?The final bastion of America's defense against Islamic?jihad?and?sharia, the Pentagon, fell to the enemy in April 2012, with the issuance of a letter from General Martin E. Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, re-issuing his earlier order that all Department of Defense (DoD) course content be scrubbed to ensure no lingering remnant of disrespect to Islam.?

The administrative disciplinary procedures against LTC Dooley included removal from his teaching?? ? ? ? ?? ?assignment and withdrawal of an outstanding Officer Evaluation Report (OER) concerning the elective course,?Perspectiveson Islam and Islamic Radicalism,he had been teaching at JFSC. ??
