GRAND TRAVERSE -- 7&4's Holly Baker hits the road to Northwood Animal Hospital for a special edition of Pet Talk Live! This week we're dealing with heartworm disease. March 1 is when people need to start protecting their pet from the disease if they haven't been keeping up with it all year.
Hearworm disease is spread through mosquito bites but it is 100% preventable. The symptoms you should look for in your pet include coughing, difficulty breathing, exercise intolerance, or there may not even be any signs at all.
